Our friends at the Mustang360 Network got caught up with Lance Heckathorn’s Project Executioner 1990 Mustang LX coupe build. Two years in, he’s building an open track-themed ride, even though it will see plenty of street duty.

Featuring GForce 1000 horsepower axles, The IRS will boast all the Full Tilt Boogie Racing goodies, Bilstein coilovers, a Torsen T2R differential, and Full Tilt Boogie Racing 13-inch rotors with 2003-2004 Cobra calipers.

Terminator Tech: Putting IRS Axles Fragility to Rest With GForce Engineering

The Mustang360 Tech Team installed our Outlaw 1000 HP axles in a 2003 Mustang Cobra recently and had this to say:

“It’s clear that GForce didn’t cut corners when designing these axles.”

After Ford introduced the 1999 Cobra with the Mustang’s first independent rear suspension (IRS), enthusiasts quickly learned that the factory-issued axleshafts were a weak link. When drag racers connected those axles to slicks, they snapped like toothpicks. One of the benefits of Ford’s 2000 Cobra R program was beefier 31-spline axles (up from 28-spline units). Fortunately, these axles made their way to the 2003-2004 Cobras.

It wasn’t long before 2003-2004 Terminator Cobras started bringing 1,000 hp to the dragstrip, which rapidly overwhelmed the beefier axles. The quick solution to rear suspension fragility was a swap to a tried-and-true solid live axle.

Over time, however, racers learned how to make the IRS work, and work well. A piece of the puzzle was stronger axleshafts. That’s where GForce Engineering comes in.

The numbers are just as good as everyone hoped and exceeding expectations. This version of the s550 brings several new performance features, none more anticipated than the all new 10-speed automatic transmission. GForce is proud to release our new 1-piece aluminum driveshaft for the 2018 Auto Mustangs. November, 2017 – Career long industry members and current GForce Performance Engineering management, Bob Engel and Jesse Powell, have purchased GForce from private equity that has held the company’s stake for the last several years. GForce Performance Engineering, a Wichita, Kansas based company focuses on driveline upgrades for performance vehicles and is positioned as an industry leader in independent rear suspension components.

“Obviously, we are extremely excited about the acquisition,” says Jesse Powell, President at GForce. “We feel by unifying management and ownership with a common vision, the company will really hit its stride and continue the growth and success we’ve been working towards.”

Jesse Powell began his career at Aeromotive Fuel Systems as marketing and communications director. After Aeromotive, he did a brief stint with The Enthusiast Network before leaving to step in as President of GForce. Bob Engel began his career in the automotive industry at Auto Meter. After many years and working his way up the ladder, he left to work as a manufacturers rep for Kunzman and Associates only to eventually pursue his passion in performance tuning. For the last two years, GForce has been under the direction of Powell and Engel and seen significant growth.

“GForce has a unique opportunity in today’s market,” adds Bob Engel, Vice-President and partner. “The product is extremely relevant and the manufacturing process is one that GForce has worked hard to develop. This, coupled with some of the processes and procedures we have added over the last couple years, has produced some of best driveline parts on the market.”

GForce Engineering was founded in the mid 90’s by aerospace engineer and long-time drag racer, Chris Nichols. The company saw several iterations from a local speed shop to a fabrication and machine shop. In 2009, Nichols reimagined GForce Engineering again as a true manufacturer and quickly found his place in the industry as a manufacturer of performance CV axles, driveshafts and driveline components, specializing in IRS and AWD performance vehicles. Nichols continues his interest in the company as the lead engineer with a focus on new product development and R & D.

“Bob, Chris and I feel that in today’s performance marketplace, real innovation will come from manufacturers that are led by enthusiasts with a passion for this industry. That’s why we are investing so much into new products and new procedures with a goal to produce better products at a better price for our customers,” says Powell.

LSX Magazine Covers the Fireball Camaro’s Run Into The 8’s

It was only a matter of time before the crew over at Fireball, out of Oklahoma City, finally broke into the 8s with their monster Fireball 900 Camaro. In case you are out of the loop, when we last checked in with the Fireball gang, their Camaro was consistently hitting 9-flats in the quarter, but an 8-second slip remained elusive. And now they’ve finally done it, becoming not only the first sixth-gen into the 8s, but the quickest Gen V LT-powered car of all time.

Now, keep in mind that this car is considered a “production” car. While it may have some aftermarket tweaking–and by some we mean a lot–it is still available from a Chevrolet dealership and carries a warranty. You can even go buy your very own right now for just $90,000–eat your heart out Demon. And if that doesn’t fit the bill for production, we don’t know what to tell you. Regardless of whether you think it fits the bill of production, we can all agree that it is one badass machine.

Roush debuts P-51 Mustang with GForce made axles.

SEMA 2016 – Roush Performance debuts the return of the P-51 Mustang at an invite only event at the 2016 SEMA show. Reminiscent of the 2008 P-51 Mustang, this new design features many of the same design cues, but boasts an incredible 727hp. This power number eclipses Roush’s current top of the line Mustang, the Supercharged RS3. It is also just one more special edition Mustang that can claim power numbers over the popular supercharged Hellcat. Official release date has yet to be set.
